River Plantation Water Main Replacement Project
The River Plantation Water Main Replacement Project includes the replacement of existing potable water infrastructure in the River Plantation (aka, Wakulla River Club) development. The project site is located within Wakulla County off Shadeville Road (CR 365).
- What is the project’s scope?
The project will replace approximately 12,000 linear feet of existing 6-inch diameter water main and associated valves, services, meters, fire hydrants and other system components.
- What are the benefits of this project?
The existing water infrastructure throughout the project area is approaching the end of its service life and will be completely replaced and upgraded. The new facilities will result in reduced utility maintenance activities, improved system capacity and reliability, and increased fire protection.
- Who do I contact if I have questions about this project?
Construction Project Inspector Nathan Hope, (850) 294-4327, and Senior Inspector Danny Cutchen, (850) 694-0622, are available to answer any questions you may have throughout the process.
Design Project Manager: Charles Hargraves, City of Tallahassee – Water Utilities Engineering, 850-891-6135, charles.hargraves@talgov.com.
- When will the project begin, and how long it will last?
This project is coupled with the water main improvements on Bloxham Cutoff, which began construction on November 13, 2023. The estimated completion date for both projects is late December of 2024 or early January 2025, barring unforeseen circumstances.
- Are road closures and water outages expected?
We realize that construction activities are, at times, noisy and can create inconveniences. Once construction begins, lane closures will be necessary for water main installation. Lane closures will be as brief as possible, and you will always have access to your property during construction. It may also be necessary to temporarily disconnect your water service to make the necessary improvements. Advanced notice of any water outage will be provided, and every effort will be made to minimize the length of the outage.
- What can be expected in terms of restoration?
During construction, work will occur in the road right-of-way/utility easement. All disturbed areas will be restored to their previous condition, including replacement of sod, sidewalk, driveways, etc., where impacted by construction activities.
