Saxon Street Streetscape Project
The City of Tallahassee recently began construction of the Saxon Street Streetscape Project. The main purpose of this project is to construct a sidewalk along Saxon Street from the existing sidewalk on Campbell Street to Floral Street and improve the landscaping from Orange Avenue to Floral Street. This project is part of the adopted Greater Bond Neighborhood First Plan and represents an important investment in our community.
In advance of the project, crews relocated overhead electric and telecommunication lines.
Sidewalk construction began in late February 2022 and is expected to be completed in summer 2022, barring any unanticipated delays.
Construction hours will generally be from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.
To accommodate construction, it will be necessary to close portions of Saxon Street during the workday. Road closures will be as brief as possible, and residents will always have access to their property during construction. All detours will be clearly marked to route traffic around the construction zone.
Project Inspector Richard Slaughter, (850) 274-3538, and Civil Engineer Jack Beazley, (850) 891-2868, are available to answer questions throughout the process. Learn more about the Greater Bond Neighborhood First Plan at Talgov.com/NeighborhoodFirst.
