Seventh Avenue Water Main Replacement
As part of its commitment to ensuring reliable service, the City of Tallahassee Underground Utilities and Public Infrastructure department is implementing utility and infrastructure improvements along Seventh Avenue between Centerville Road and N. Gadsden Street. The water main replacement project, which begins construction in June 2024, will upgrade approximately 4,500 linear feet of existing water main, replacement of water services and replacement of existing fire hydrants.
Collectively, this work will result in reduced maintenance activities, improved system capacity, increased fire protection, an improved roadway connection, and continued reliable service for years to come.

Once construction begins, intermittent lane/road closures will be necessary along Seventh Avenue between Gadsden Street and Magnolia Drive during the workday. Road closures will be as brief as possible, and residents/businesses will always have access to their property during construction. All detours will be clearly marked to route traffic around the construction zone.
October 2024 Update: No lane closures are anticipated as part of the project from Oct. 5-20 and Nov. 13 to Jan. 5.
It may also be necessary to temporarily disconnect water or sewer services to make the necessary improvements. Advanced notice of any water or sewer outage will be provided, and every effort will be made to minimize the length of the outage.
After the project improvements are completed, the roadway will be resurfaced, and all other areas disturbed by construction activities will be restored to existing or better condition.
This project represents the significant investment by the City toward maintaining and improving its water system. If you have questions or comments during construction, please contact Senior Inspector Daniel Cutchen at (850) 694-0622.
